Relentless Hope

Thought about the Future inflames hope and fear… We want him to be in the maximum uncertainty, so that his mind will be filled with contradictory pictures of the future, every one of which arouses hope or fear. There is nothing like suspense and anxiety for barricading a human's mind against the Enemy. He wants men to be concerned with what they do; our business is to keep them thinking about what will happen to them. C.S.Lewis - The Screwtape Letters

What do you feel when you think about the future? What’s your first reaction when things aren’t going well in your life? Are you waiting for things to come to you, or are you moving toward things to come?

While there is always uncertainty in the future, much of the future that you will live in will depend on your decisions in the present, and the biggest of those decisions is if you will put your hope in Jesus - the one who holds the future.

'Where there's hope, there's life. It fills us with fresh courage and makes us strong again - Anne Frank

JESUS SECURES HOPE

We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself. Our anchor of hope is fastened to the mercy seat in the heavenly realm beyond the sacred threshold, and where Jesus, our forerunner, has gone in before us.

The Greek word for "forerunner" was used in the timing of the writing of Hebrews to describe a smaller boat that would carry the anchor of a larger ship into the harbour, so that it could be winched in to safety from dangerous stormy conditions. J

Jesus anchors our souls in the presence of God, nothing can change that. Part of our faith journey is to slowly winch ourselves toward this hope. Anchor yourself in the hope and truth of Jesus. Move toward the things to come

Relentless hope is sparked by Jesus, sustained by Jesus, and secured by Jesus.
